Population and General Economic Conditions

American Community Survey provides annual data on state and local social, demographic and economic conditions.

Current Population Survey provides monthly data on state and regional employment conditions.  Annual information on a broader range of variables is available.

Survey of Income and Program Participation provides annual data on state and regional income and program participation of individuals and households in the United States.  SIPP offers detailed information on cash and noncash income. The survey also collects data on taxes, assets, liabilities, and participation in government transfer programs.  SIPP data allow the government to evaluate the effectiveness of federal, state, and local programs.

Consumer Expenditure Survey provides annual data at a regional level on detailed consumer expenditures.


National Post-Secondary Student Aid Study provides state and regional level information on post secondary conditions, student debt and financing.

Baccalaureate and Beyond provides regional level information on post secondary conditions, student employment and other work related variables after graduation.

Early Childhood Longitudinal Study (ECLS) program includes three longitudinal studies that examine child development, school readiness, and early school experiences. 


Behavioral Risk-Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) The behavioral risk-factor surveillance system collects data from to assess risk factors such as self-reported overweight, sedentary lifestyle, uncontrolled hypertension, cigarette smoking, alcohol misuse, and seat belt nonuse for persons 18 years of age and older.  The data is available for the state from 1984 through 2010.
